Kudos to computer company ASUS, which just received the world's first EU Flower Eco Award for its N50, N80, N20, and N10 notebooks.
The EU Flower Award was developed under the Eco Label Scheme in 1992 by the European Union, and is one of the strictest standards for green computing.
The award assesses computers based on a variety of criteria, including energy savings, packaging, product design, noise, and labeling.
It's no surprise that ASUS is the first computer company to receive the Flower Eco Award—the company initiated a massive sustainability drive in 2000. Additionally, the ASUS N Series has already been given the prestigious EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) Gold award earlier this year.
Here's hoping other computer companies follow in ASUS' footsteps—a new standard in sustainability has been set, and it's time for the entire electronics industry to pay attention.
